[A Year in Qatar]

For the 2009-10 school year, I am a physics TA for premed students at Weill Cornell Medical College in Doha, Qatar. Basically I plan on doing everything and going everywhere in the next year, and if you want to read about it, you're in the right place. Enjoy— and comment often!

Yesterday I did the Golden Circle tour (tour that evvvvveryone does when they come to Iceland,) which hits some major sights all within a day trip of Reykjavik.  First, Þingvellir National Park, which is the location of the old parliament and also where the European and North American tectonic plates are splitting apart.  Then, Geysir, so famous that the word was stolen by English (geyser) to describe any such place… moon-like crater landscape with pools of sulfurous water boiling in the ground.  And finally, Gulfoss (here), a fantastic double-tiered waterfall in such a stunning natural surrounding that it blows Niagara out of the water, so to speak.  No casinos here.
And that was only the second day.Yesterday I did the Golden Circle tour (tour that evvvvveryone does when they come to Iceland,) which hits some major sights all within a day trip of Reykjavik.
